JEM77VBK vs. JEM7DBK

I've been wondering this for a while, actually. What is so vastly different about the JEM77VBK that it justifies the huge price markup from the JEM7DBK? From what I can tell it has a vine, and... not a whole lot else to differentiate. They both have the same neck, same fingerboard, same Breed pickups and same mirror pickguard (as far I as I know). Granted the trem is different but as Ibanez doesn't put the Edge on normal production models I don't see it as an issue here. Back in 2001 the 7DBK was listing for 1599$, and now the 77VBK lists for over 1000$ more than that? Perhaps I'm missing something here. As nice as the vine inlays are I find it hard to believe that they justify that kind of price increase (even allowing for inflation).

Never try to justify price points, you either like it or you don't, you're either willing to spend it or you aren't. It's just that simple.

You might as well ask - How much difference on a cost basis is there between the $2800 VBK and $2900 VWH?

B of T, as long as people are willing to keep paying the prices, the prices will keep steadily on the rise. Also the Value of the prior model Jems has skyrocketed over the last few years. (so that doesn't help matters) Especially certain models such as the DNA and PMC.

Really what is comes down to = "why is a company in business"?? To make as much profit as possible. Simple as that

BTW - it's not the same neck. The DBK neck was thinner. In between the Wizard and the Prestige currently available on the Jems. Also, between the extra labor hours and cost of materials, the mop/ab vine neck is Justifiably more expensive! And don't forget inflation 2007 v.s 2001

The VBK is a basically a BRMR without the mirror and has vines added to it. Besides, the VBK was more of the 'poor man's JEM' (not the RGs).

I always wondered why the VSBL listed for more than the VWH a few years back. Basically same guitar with different colors, if anything I would have thought the MOP inlays would make it more expensive than the VSBLs plastic ones.
