Question

JEM7DBK Advise-Part it out or not?

First off, I am not looking to make any sales here. I know where the classified section is. This is strictly for advise. PLEASE DON'T MAKE OFFERS HERE. If I decide to Part it out I will post it in the classifieds.

I have a more recent model JEM7DBK(has Edge Pro trem). It seems as though not many people are interested in these right now unless you give them away. Unfortunately, I can afford to do that.

So here are my questions:
Would people actually be more interested in its parts than as a whole?
Do you think I would be better off parting her out?
Any Ideas what kind of cash the individual pieces are worth?

Thanks!

seems a pity to part out a very nice guitar, but hey, that's merely my personal opinion - they may hike in value in a few years, you never know.

i dont think parting it out would be the way to go. I think you would get more for the guitar whole. I sold mine for $950 and I would think parting it would get you maybe 700? Just my opinion

Re: JEM7DBK Advise-Part it out or not?

I'm building a guitar at the moment from parts sourced variously. The only reason I'm doing this is to get a bargain on the bits, I guess most buyers will be doing the same!
Conclusion: If you want the quick sale (for most of it) part it out. If you want a better price, sell it whole!

Sell it whole. The only bits that are worth something on their own are the lo-pro and the Breeds. The neck with the scew head inlays is not desirable onits own as a Jem neck, same goes for body.

However, as a complete guitar its a very desirable "cheapish" Jem.

+100 on selling it completely. if you have the time to wait until you find the "right buyer" take it and you both will be happy.

and don't forget : if it's not absolutely necessary it's forbidden to part out cool guitars

It seems to be a buyers market at the moment with folks not having the cash to spare.

I'd hold on to it for a while if you can, or simply take your chances for a whole guitar. If you're desparate for cash, you may find that you can sell the neck but not the body etc etc and so make an even bigger loss overall!

Don't part it out. Sell it as a whole, it may take a bit longer but will gain you more cash.
There are peeps out there who look for blackies to repaint them as a whole, or swirl em.

For the guy that PM'ed me:
That was a typo man, I clearly meant that "I CAN'T afford to give it away". Well it was a nice try for a free axe anyway!

I actually prefer not to break her down into pieces myself. Looks like she will go in one piece after all!

It has been a buyers market for nearly everything music related for at least 6 months now, just ride it out.

Re: JEM7DBK Advise-Part it out or not?

Well for a start it's against classified rules to part out a whole guitar for profit

If you chose to do it somewhere else though...

My opinion is that although it is seen as a cheaper Jem, it's still a discontinued Jem. 'Nuff said!

I've never been a fan of parting out guitars too.
