Re: JemFrets Vs. Ibanez Medium

You know, I'm also curious. I tried out a JEM7dbk and the frets were so tiny compared to my RG550's. I actually had problems doing fret bends in some cases because the frets are so tiny and my finger was bottom out on the fret board. The neck itself was sweet but so much flatter than my other Ibanez guitars.

Re: JemFrets Vs. Ibanez Medium

My RGA121 has jumbo frets which I love, they're nice and wide, compared to my mate's 8670 which has TALL frets which are narrow, I really prefer the RGA frets.

The 7vWH seems to be somewhere in between.

Re: JemFrets Vs. Ibanez Medium

I've had an RG570 (1997) for 10 years and it has the ibanez jumbos on it. I just got an RG20051 (just like 1570 but different pups). It had jumbos too and next to my rg570, they actually looked like they might be a little bigger, I'm not sure though.
I had my guitar tech refret it to the 6105s used on a jem (.096x.047). At first I thought they were a little too short but I loved the width of them so much more. Now that I've played on it for a few weeks, I think these frets are perfect. I actually like playin this guitar more than my rg570 & I never thought that would happen since it's been my favorite for 10 years!

Re: JemFrets Vs. Ibanez Medium

I personally prefer smaller frets than most. As long as you have your action just in the right spot bending is no problem for me.

Allparts frets LT_0842-000 are almost the same as on the jems. Go to www.allparts.com, only $4.00 They are .095x.047 where as jems are .096x.047. I doubt you could notice a thousandth of an inch difference

Re: JemFrets Vs. Ibanez Medium

i can't answer that but my guitar repairman Mike Nedd chose them & I'd trust him on anything. Here's a guitar he built for a fellow jemsiter: http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49491 & www.neddguitars.com.
I've got the allparts frets on one of mine and I love them
