Re: Left Handed Jem

That's probably the case until Steve decides to play left-handed.

But, you can always have one built. That would be rather expensive, so next best advice is to get a lefty prestige (also difficult to find).

Re: Left Handed Jem

Yes there extremly hard to find. I never see them come up on the bay or local sale. Your opition is to have one made, which could be expensive depending on who you go through and what you want done and made, if you have your own hardware, etc etc. Shop around and you will most likely be able to come up with a price with one of the great vendores that are on the site!

Re: Left Handed Jem

If you get one made, I suggest ET Guitars, Ernie's a class guy, I may be doing some work with him in the future, depending on how my finances work out.

He's at the top, "ET Guitars" banner, or www.etguitars.com

Re: Left Handed Jem

I'm a lefty, and got a lefty RG2550EX a few years ago (and got it signed at an EVO), and looked around for years for a lefty jem, and as others, gave up.

Then I found a 555LWH ( on this very site, actually !), and got it signed at the EVO after that !

When I got it out of the case, even Steve himself said "Where did you get this from ? I didnt know they made lefty jems !" So when even his majesty didnt know, that tells you how rare they are !

So with the RG2550 and now the 555, I think I own more or less the entire range of lefty ibanez !

Heres a pic

the RG2550EX is missing to my collection, it's a nice axe...any pic?

In left hand I've got
- jem 555 (with edge pro)
- custom dna (based on a 1570L)
- RG 550 EXL
- RG7420L
- RG440

And I miss a RG3120TWL and a S540

It's just to say that:
- good lefty ibanez are rare but with patience you can find it
- rg 550 (or 1570) can be a great base for customise it to jem

Re: Left Handed Jem

I know there are many different RG models, but once I had an RG Prestige, I didnt think there was much point buying another.

Ive looked at some of the lefty SA models, but they look a little low end for me, so I didnt bother. I saw a 7 strong RG a while back on the bay that I fancied, but it went for stupid money.

Heres the RG2550ex

it's similar to my RG550EXL

My post was not to enumer Rg models but to show that great ibanez lefty can be found.

Re: Left Handed Jem

I thought about getting that sa, but its Korean, yuk. I'm happy with my 3120L, especially since its one of the rarest of all the leftys and the best looking. I'm not crazy over the 2550 its nothing more than a 1570 with guard. groove, I think that is a 2550. I don't recall ibby making a aanj 550 lefty, they switched to 470l's for full production AANJ leftys.

My first Ibanez was a Japanese 99' 470L, and I didn't look back. Lefty 470's come up all the time on the bay and are usually less than $300. late 80's early 90's Lefty 550's/560's come up on the bay about 1 every 3 months or so, and can be had for around $400-$800 depending on color and shape and type of board. New 1570's are great and can be had on the bay for an average of about $400-$600 and are worth every penny.
