Re: Let's see pics of your low action!

Having level frets and the right amount of relief in the neck are keys to low action. There are other minor issues such as nut height and individual saddle height that can be addressed if you hit any road blocks. The Tech section at ibanezrules.com has pretty much everything you need to know.

Do keep in mind that tone does start to suffer when action gets really low. I really start to notice after I get lower than say 1.2mm or on the high E at the last fret.

I wouldn't recommend going any lower than 1.5mm at the last fret. Any more and your tone will take a serious hit, as the lower harmonics are slowly cut out.

Plus, as you lower the action, you loose a lot of whammy bar pull up.

If you change the neck angle by shimming the neck pocket you will be able to obtain a set up that will enable you to have low action an good pull up, provided your frets are in good shape!

Neck shim or not, I think it'd be pretty hard to get good pull up out a 1mm action. 1.4mm though would be achievable.

My guitars are set up at 1.5mm action and with a perfect forth pull up (Some only go to a major third though)
