Lo-pro edge bar not smooth

A few things ive noticed after deciding to play with the tremelo system after a few years, is that the bar has roughly half a centimetre of travel before it does anything. almost like the bar is too small for the hole.

so there is a bit of play between pulling up and diving.

the other thing is the bar doesnt spin freely, it clicks and scratches as it spins.

I have tried another bar on the guitar which is brand new - new teflon washer things, but it does the same thing. so that leads me to think something needs adjusting on the trem unit itself

any ideas on what to try?

Re: Lo-pro edge bar not smooth

ok so i have taken the trem out, but i dont understand the instructions on tightening the arm holder.

Quote:
Only grab the END of the arm holder with the pliers because if you use them anywhere else on the holder you'll deform the holder and the bar will not fit in it anymore.
is the "end" the part on the bottom with the screw and spring in it, or is it the other end with the nut?

how do i get a good grip on that?

Re: Lo-pro edge bar not smooth

I used singer oil, seemed to work. rubbed some oil on a rag and then rubbed the rag on the bar.

while i had the trem out of the guitar i cleaned the fretboard too!

awesome.
