Mod my Jem?

I love my 06 7VWH but I have been wanting to make it more personal in a way. I want to do something that won't cost too much but change the way it looks so I've been thinking about changing the pickguard to a black one and then blue knobs and blue evos or green knobs and green evos. But I'm also worried it might make it less "pimpy" or "classy." Anyone here good at photoshopping so i could get somewhat of a preview? Also what do you guys think about changing it? And i could go with even a pearloid, mirror, or vine of life etching pickguard in black.
So, what do you guys think?

Re: Mod my Jem?

PLEASE don't get one of those pickguards with the vine on. They are so common and "e-Bay"-ish, it looks like such an amateur mod!

But anyway. Any colour you add, such as pickups and knobs, it just won't tie in with anything else on the guitar. A black guard might look good with the white pickups and knobs, though.

Why did you buy a sig if you wanted it to be personalized?

Oh man, just buy a RG550 and mod that, but don't ruin the JEM.

Because it's a JEM.

Seriously, like Sabu said, get a 550 and mod it. But if you really want to mod the JEM, I'd replace the gold hardware with black ala EVO. But if you want a really cheap mod then just put a bunch of stickers on it. Might not be nice but it's YOUR guitar.

Don't do anything to it In time you'll get the scratches and dings on it which personalized it

Re: Mod my Jem?

Actually I think its ok to mod JEM. Imagine a candy red JEM7.That would be the JEM7 i will be longing for. The only issues here will be whether it will affect the resale value or whether you can resell the mod JEM if you decide one day that you want to let it go. Would anyone will want to purchase it.....?

There is one mod JEM currently sitting pretty on evil bay. I think its cool

Re: Mod my Jem?

yeah, I'm not quite sure why I am being attacked. I bought the guitar a year ago because I worship Vai and loved the way it played. It was just a thought; i thought maybe it would look cool but i think it wouldn't work well with the gold hardware. I'm not sure why you are saying I would ruin it by doing this because many people have changed pickguards and pickups. I believe someone here changed their white pickgaurd on their VSBL to a blue pearloid one. Would you say that is ruining it? I think it looks 100 times better. Also I got the idea from a thread here. Someone took a old add of the neon colors and changed them around somehow, I'm not sure how, and one ended up white with a black pickguard with blue pickups and I remember reading people thought it looked cool. Anyways, it was just a thought, no need to attack me.

Why not something very simple and subtle, like a set of Telecaster style dome knobs in gold?

Indeed, there's no need to attack the guy. Good on you for trying to make it a little bit different mate.
