monkey grip?

aside from looks and uhh a grip, does the monkey grip serve any other purpose to the jem guitars? (like sound difference or weight balance or whatever)

I personally wouldnt have said that much difference. Apart from the actual fact it allows you to "hold" the guitar and more safely, I think it is there for cosmetics too. I think everybody would agree to some extent that it looks cool!

The "sound" issue has been discussed loads of times before. Some people think it does make a sound difference, some dont! I am in the middle and cant tell any difference. I defenitely think it changes tone, but not sustain or nuthing like that.
