Monkey Grip VS "Angel Grip"?

Definitely looks like they build some nice guitars, but found this to be a little silly:

"Our famous Paradise "Angel-Grip" adds that extra touch of style and versatility."

Yea, I browsed their site a day or two ago. They build some nice guitars, but I said the same thing you did. There's not that much difference between their grip and Ibanez's grip. It would've been nice if they had put some thought into it and come up with something original.

Those guitars would look so much nicer if they weren't trying to copy the Jem design. That one kinda looks like an old lady's curio cabinet with the inlayed body.
That headstock needs to go too.

Their grip looks straight and un-ergonomically designed and uncomfortable.....
Whereas the one we know and love is curved and "fits" the hand

Plus the headstock shape looks distinctly "unfinished"

Right! I'm working on a guitar right now that I'm calling the Power Jem (based off the old Power II body) and I wanted to include a grip, but I wanted it to be different. Well, I came up with something and it's definitely different. I'm not sure if it'll actually be useable as far as handling the guitar from the grip, but it'll definitely fit the guitar's mood. I haven't posted it yet, but will probably tonight.

Both the headstock and grip looks really, really bad, like some 6th grade shop class design.

Agreed, and if you carry the guitar with the monkey grip (which I do all the time BTW) you'll be reshaping the headstock as it will be rubbing on the ground I see no reason in a having a monkey grip on a guitar if it is not functional.

But then again....the headstock does need a bit of re-shaping so maybe it was a "smart thing to do"

Re: Monkey Grip VS "Angel Grip"?

The thing that bothered me was not that they copied it so much, but the fact that they claimed it as "OUR", famous nonetheless, Angel Grip.

I know...as if to say they thought of it first and they're known for it.

Well, you can check out my version of it. Hopefully it'll be more likeable than this one. You all be the judge.

Re: Monkey Grip VS "Angel Grip"?

As much they resemble the Jems its cool to see different people try to put their own spin on but I do agree with whats been said so far.
Their Angel Grip is nothing more than a sales pitch to get people that are into Jems to possiblely want to check their guitars out. Its a bit bold in their wording or so called marketing but whatever they have to draw attention towards themselves anyway.

I like the guitars they look nice but I'm concerned with how the sound and feel. I'd never buy one unless I got to try it out and it blew me away.

Though the Jems are impossible to beat.
