more Chibanez

a semi-famous guitar player here in brazil, used to play a RG350, then someone offered him a 7V, no cash or or other equipament involved in the trade. The guy was informed that the 7V would be a chibanez, but didnt care.

The overall quality of those copies are getting better and better.

Here's a pic of the guitar disassembled by his luthier (the pic is before the mods: new frets installed, scalloped fretboard and setup)

http://www.4shared.com/file/11936782...esmontada.html

and here's a video of him playing (dubbing) a song with his new Chibanez

Re: more Chibanez

i actualy bought one a while ago cheap and put a tone zone, YJM and a evo neck in it and it sounds great! needs a new neck and trem but total it would cost me like 500 bucks for a killer guitar. it stays in tune great and sounds prety good for the money.

Re: more Chibanez

Yeah, it's ridiculous....it's more like a crooked set of knuckles than grip.

Re: more Chibanez

I get the feeling that guy could make a cigar box sound great. I still hate the whole Chibanez thing. It's not so much that they copy great guitars but that they have the nerve to put "Ibanez" on the headstock.

Re: more Chibanez

Yeah that's it. If they were being sold as copies I wouldn't care so much. They are not accurate copies anyway, they could at least get the knobs correct. As it is, it's just a huge insult to the JEM. And I hate to say it but the Chibanez is what put me off the WVH forever.

Re: more Chibanez

I guess I just don't see the point. I have no problem with cheaper guitars (see my 321), but what does a decent chibanez cost, $200-$300? After you spend money on frets, pups, trem or set up, you could have bought (IMO) a nicer guitar for the same money.

I suppose the allure of a JEM is stronger in some... [shrug]

*EDIT* Ok, I just saw the video of the guy playing, and now I am really confused. If you have that kind of chops, why on earth would you bother with a cheap Chinese knock off?

He is from brazil and obviously doesn't have the funds for a high end Ibanez. The guy wails too. I have checked out alot of his tunes and he is good.
