my first jem

I have played Ibanez guitars for so long, but i have always played rg styles, i just recently got to try a friend's JEM and i loved it, does anyone have any recommendations for a first 6 string JEM, or are all jems super sweet.

Re: my first jem

dbk is an affordable entry into the jem owning experience. neck is more wizard-like rather than pure jem spec.

All Jems (my opinion) are sweet, just choose your favorite color, or the one for the price you can afford and go for it!

Re: my first jem

I have an old Jem777VBK, the plain black one with green vine. Often considered to be a lowly boring grade of jem, but I think its awesome, feels just great and all the hardware is top notch. You can pick these up, and also the other ones, ie. green, yellow and pink on that auction site for reasonable prices.
Avoid the Jem555! You would be better of for value with a decent RG series Ibanez. Seriously, the Jem555 is a let down from the real Jem experience, I tried one once and it felt no better than my old Jackson Dinky.

Re: my first jem

Anything but the 555, and those are not terrible, just not on the same par as other Jems are.

Re: my first jem

I'd check out the thread on this site tittled "Auction sightings to laugh at" !
It'll give you a good indication of some of the many pitfalls of trying to buy your first Jem at a good price.

I've never played a BAD Jem....I don't think they exist

I've even played a 555....not as good, but it wasnt THAT bad. But then again.....tis not really a Jem.
