My jem77brmr project

It is time to start another project over here. I bought this BRMR body along with a rg2550 neck and edge pro trem.

I've ordered all the remaining bits (almost) from Rich and will place an order for the pickups soon.

This is going to be a hybrid brmr because of the 2550 neck. First I was thinking about refinishing the headstock but I think it fits pretty good so I'll leave it as is. I also have a plan that includes leds in the fretboard but will save that for later.

The thing with this body is that it is totally unused. It doesnt even have any holes for the trem claw, covers or strap screws. And the holes for the pickguard are all virgins, never seen a screw =) All the binding is solid, no gaps or pick-holders.

Now onto the pictures:

/Tomas

Looks beautiful, I'd refinish the headstock or at least pick up a cover from pickguardparadise.com.

Good luck, & keep us updated!

I got the body from a guy in spain. He said that he bought in from an ibanez dealer there. Don't know the full story =)

This has been on my mind since you posted... Now I'm thinking that a clear mirror headstock cover would be really cool! And maybe even do a perloid binding around it. But then I would have no logo on the headstock. Unless there's a way to add it from the back somehow..

Thoughts about this?

I've also discovered that the locking nut is a 42mm one where there should be a 43mm. So I will need to find a top mounted chrome 43mm locking nut and a new string tree. If someone has these PM me.

As for pickups I'm leaning towards the breeds like in the original, but I've read that evos sound good in basswood aswell... I really like the evos but I like the fact that the breeds has chrome pole pieces... I'm a bit torn here... =P

Re: My jem77brmr project

Update time!

Finally got it wired up and assembled. Just have to say wow! This plays so good! And that's before I have gotten it setup all the way. Great sustain aswell =)

I recieved my parts from Rich and a set of dimarzio breeds and a iscv2. I have not recieved my mirror pickguard yet so this 2550 smoked mirror will have to act as a replacement for now =) Doesn't look that bad now either...

Re: My jem77brmr project

I like it better with the smoke pickguard. The regular BRMR is so plain.
