My new 2nd hand VBK!

hey guys just bought this from a long time friend, his old VBK(about 10 years old). pickups have been swapped with tone zone air norton and red velvet. the IBANEZ logo on the headstock is extra huge cus its from an IBANEZ amplifier.. haha.. its got a rough black paintjob and a neon green binding. and a replaced lo pro edge.

the neck's bigger than my DBK's but its really nice and worn in. really smooth. was wondering if i should try and swirl it later in my holidays or if i should keep the finish like this. Anyone know how i can change the colour of the pickups? spray paint? i'd prefer them, and the controls to be green.

Atleast swirl it man, do something to put it out of its misery. That green binding has to go, and the mismatched pickups.....

I guess if it plays well that's all that matters though.

thats actually looks quite good, swirling it only makes it a tiny little bit better. If I were you I would save swirling for another guitar.

i LIKE it. why does every jem have to be eye blinding flashiness? the VBK looks fine that way IMO.

Looks interesting to say the least! I'd get rid of the gold though.

Re: My new 2nd hand VBK!

i got it cheap. would be about 300USD. its really worn in, but there are some dead spots. the neck has gone thru a re-fret and the guitar as been played and gigged with a LOT.

i'm not sure if i want to swirl it, but i won't make the decision now, i have to wait till my holidays (around may..)

Anyway, i want to get the pickups green and the trem black. i can spray the controls green and the trem black right? I don't see a problem there. But how about the pickups?

that's the headstock with the huge ibanez logo (from the amp)

i am planning to shim the nut, because the action's really low at the lower frets and quite high on the higher frets while the neck is relatively straight. Hope that helps, if it doesn't then i'll send it to a guitarshop.

the tone zone sounds awesome when bendding high notes. sounds wah-ish.

You can spray them if you don't want it to look good or last more than a few short days. Only way to change the color and have it last is to buy black hardware and green pickups. The pickups are about the ONLY part you could spray that wouldn't wear off really fast.
Personally, I really like the mismatched look of the guitar, I'd leave it as is

Yup. The huge logo looks a bit unusual though.

What's the general body condition like? Is there loads of nicks and chips?
