My self-modded 7PBK! - check out my beloved 7PBK
Hey people. I wanted to post a pic of my Jem7PBK which I modified myself. I never had plans of selling this guitar, so I figured I would do to it which I had desired to do (Credit must go to my former guitar teacher Craig, for the idea). I sanded off the finish on my 7PBK, as the picture shows. I left the inside of the handle, the cut aways, lions claw, input jack route, and like 20% of the back of the guitar, its' original black finnish. I used
Tung oil
and rubbed it into the finnish wood, replaced my exsisting DiMarzio PU's with the same ones, only black (including the single coil, of a simmilar model), and changed the knobs and pickup selector tip to black as well. The neck and headstock are unchanged (the are not in the pic). Please post comments! Thanks!
Matt

My self-modded 7PBK!
Nice, man.
I did something similar to my Strat - i have a black
pearloid pickguard
on it - i'll be that'd look hot on that guitar - you can probably scrape one up from a 555Bk or something.
I love natural wood

Looks very cool, Matt! *
I like the black-around-the-edges-and-in-the-holes look.
Now let Kenny and I know where you're playing on the Island, and we'll come down and throw bras & panties on the stage. *:-)

The funny thing is-Kevan will actually have to take the bra and panties OFF before he throws them....

My self-modded 7PBK!
I've talked about this Strat a hundred times on the forum - TX specials middle and neck and fast track 2 in the bridge.
Matt finally inspired me to get a couple pics up of it. *This was a 60s reissue Black w/
white pickguard
Jap strat when i got it. *It was hanging on the wall of my Local Sam's Ass for a few years as the demo model for the Roland guitar synth thingy. *I had a friend there when they finally retired it - got the Guitar for $175 and the TX specials for $125 and went to town with the sander. *For the record, sanding the finish off was a B*t*h...back in '93 when i did this, I didn't have the Forum (or the internet, for that matter) to tell me how to strip it, so there was a LOT of trial and error.
It's not so easy to see in these pics, but I left the black edges on - that's why matt's guitar reminds me so much of this. *It wasn't my original plan, but after sanding it, the edge was perfect so I just left it.
Anyway, just thought I'd share these. *Thanks for the inspiration Matt!

That looks really cool, guys. I may do that as a temporary finish on my UV until I figure out what finish I'm going to finally go with.
Looks killer!!!

Looks great! It takes big kahunas to do what you did to your guitar.
My hats off and enjoy!

Hey Matt, you haven't returned any emails. I've still got this LNG neck on hold and haven't seen the check yet. Last chance before I write Brian.

You meant cajones right? A Kahuna is a Hawaiian chief. Of course, that could be right too depending on how you meant it.
Just thought I'd say that
