mystery jem: 7v jr?

i found a used jem. the front of the neck says jem jr., the back says jem 7v wh. the serial number is C02060876 and it says made in korea. i am very confused as to what this guitar is. it has the full vine of life inlay, but no scalloping. i am wondering if the body is alder or basswood. if anyone has any info, i'd greatly appreciate it, as it may be my very first Jem it is kosher.

If you're shopping for a JEM I'd suggest you learn to tell the absolute fakes from the real, or buy from a legitimate source.

Auction 7376758160 is a fake piece of junk, as well as 100 more on e#ay.

Good idea, Rich. It's probably entirely a fake. Any pics?

Re: mystery jem: 7v jr?

Well theres just a couple of thing obvious about it:

Very Poorly Cut monkey grip
Very poorly cut lions claw
A crapply little ''floyd rose liscenced'' trem
Pickguard that has odd shaped P/U holes and is cut poorly
Strat style trem cover
Oddly placed input cover
Real dimarzio pickups have black tape under the plastic bobbins, not white
Fake plastic vine inlay
Horrible placement of Ibanez logo on headstock
The ''Jem JR'''on the headstock (7VWH has JEM on the headstock, crappy 555 series has the JEM JR ones)
Horrible placement of Serial number and model ID
The C designation in the serial number (means its made in the korean factory ''Cort''
Differnt Tuner style
NO 2005 7VWHs have scarf joints
ALL 2005 7VWHs have 3-piece neck (even though ibanez call them 5 piece)
02 number in the serial number means its made in 2002 not 2005 like claimed

Its obvioulsy a very, very cheap knock-off

Re: mystery jem: 7v jr?

yeah, i didn't bid on it because the incongruence. no 7v were made in korea, and no 7vs were called jr. it didn't have the right knobs, but i figured it was because the original owner wanted to customize it. anyways, thanks for the input. i was guessing that someone monkeyed around with a 555, but oh well. i guess i gotta save that dollar for a real 7v.

Sadly enough...all this will not keep this lovely from going for top $ on the EVILBAY

Re: mystery jem: 7v jr?

Wow that thing is way off, everything is wrong lol. You'd think they'd at least print out the blueprints for a jem instead of just guessing where the monkey grip goes(or how it's shaped) or how the lions claw is shaped. Anyone thats ever seen a Jem would know that's a fake, far before the need of touching it lol...

Re: mystery jem: 7v jr?

I've noticed that almost all of the shady Ibanez knock-off's on the 'bay (the ones with that list for $0.27 but cost over $200 to ship), even the RG-style ones without the claw or grap, have a "Jem Jr" decal on them.
