Neck angle

Hello all

I am just wondering if anyone can offer me an explanation for the following:

I have 4 ibanez guitars, 2 jem's and 2 Rg's. I have noticed that the neck angle for the AANJ type guitar runs parallel to the body, but the older RG guitar with the heal joint is set at an angle to the body (I am making an assumption that the old heal joint jem guitars are the same). Any thoughts, I hope I am not digging up an old thread by the way!

cheers

Re: Neck angle

AFAIK, all the neck pockets are routed flat but some guitars come from the factory with a shim under the end of the neck which gives it a tiny angle. A little angle allows for the bridge to be set higher for more pullup while still keeping the correct nuetral position.
