Need advice on Jem 77fp-please click!

Hello everyone,
I am new to the jemsite, but I can already tell this site is awesome. I am very very interested in a ibanez jem 77fp especially a old on(8. I have never played one but I have the chance this weekend to buy one for a good price in good condition(2 dents on back, one crack near neck joint). I have a gibson les paul studio plus, jackson RR3 flying V, and a Fender Squire. The only thing i would be worried about is the neck and action. Should I go for it?

Action wise, it varies from guitar to guitar as it depends on how it's setup. As for the neck, just check to see if it's straight and not twisted in a funny way. Other than that, it just comes down to whether you like the neck or not. If you don't like it you can always sell it to me

hey just wanted to say that the action on the guitar is "super low." Anyone know of any production ibanez guitars that have a similar neck so i can atleast get a taste of how it feels? Thanks everyone, i really appreciate it!

Hey, Welcome to Jemsite!

Just to clarify, your first post..The crack at the neck joint is just a finish crack?
If so thats normal for these guitars, especially one that age.

Best of luck in whatever you decide!

You'd be able to change the action with no problem to suit you any way.

I'll never understand what all these low action freaks get out of spanky twangy low action :S

Well, i guess there is more than just 2 "dimples" and a clear coat scratch. The guitar has 2 chips in near the input jack. Also it looks sortof messy. Would you guys consider that still pretty good condition? Thanks

Re: Need advice on Jem 77fp-please click!

I bought an FP last year with the finish crack by the neck pocket, and some damage to the bottom of the guitar. The front bottom edge looks like the surface of the moon, but to be honest it doesn't affect the guitar in any other way at all.

The real question is, does the price reflect the condition?

Well, it ends up that I didn't buy it. At the last second someone offered a better price and won it. I am sortof of glad because I was starting to have "buyers remorse" because the seller told me the true condition after I offered him the money. For now it looks like i will just wait until i go up to San Francisco, and then have my self a good time guitar shopping!! Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it!
