Need MAJOR help. guitar noob trying to buy one

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and have a question.
I've been looking around to get a new guitar and the Ibanez Jem caught my attention.
Ever since I saw jem, which my friend has, I fell in love with it.
Now I am looking around to purchase one, but man,what a high priced guitar!
Can anyone please tell me why this guitar is so expensive? I do NOT know enough to tell a good guitar from bad. But I do know Jem is a beautiful guitar. What makes a Jem what it is?
Ive been lookin around this forum today and found out about "chibanez." I am currently looking at **** for used guitar and item number 140297551899 caught my eyes. It is much cheaper than some of the white Jems on the list. Is that guitar fake? Why is this cheaper than the other ones? Where is a good and cheacp place to get them other than the local music shops? Maybe people on this forum?
I know these are many noob question but please teach me!

Buy a Jem555. They are way cheaper.

7dbk jems are usually cheaper than the white ones.
Jems are expensive because they are well built and have good components.
There are plenty of threads on this forum about jems. Do a little reading here and I am sure you will be educated quickly.

They are cheaper in every sense of the word. Few people here would recommend a Jem555. You would be better off with a higher end RG.

Signature guitars are always more expensive as well as jems being top quality guitars. A prestige RG will get you close of your budget won't stretch to a jem. Check out ibanezrules for top quality instruments and a great used selection. Watch out for e bay fakes if it is too good a deal then be careful

To be stright the price is because its popular. Its a good guitar yes but the price, just like Gibson's Les Paul is because itys popular. Is it the best Ibanez has to offer? Nope, there are many great Ibanez guitars. I say play them all at the shop and find one that fits you.

Buy dbk most underrated jem there is people dont like the finish or inlays in no way is it a "lesser quality" option.

So the one on eeabay (140297551899) for 1300 dollars is a legit ibanez?
its cheaper just because its design?
I am willing to spend about 1100. Is Jem(if i can get one) the best one i can get my hands on at that price?

It's only at that price because he couldn't get the $1950 he started it at and has been working it down over the last 6 months. The guy lists for the highest prices found on e-bay.
