New 7DBK!

Well, just got my second Jem - a 7DBK and I think it may have the best neck I've played. It's much flatter/thinner than the 777DY neck and since the DY is an '89 I'm not used to the "all-access" neck joint on the DBK. Smokin!!!!

I'm not sure, but will probably trade out the Breed pickups for FRED's or EVO's. The Breeds are hot, but tonally challenged I think. The finish has taken some getting used to, but it's growing on me, and did I mention the neck? Man, I frickin LOVE this neck! The Bubinga skunk stripe is a nice touch, but it clearly blows away the '89 DY neck. Just wish it had decent inlays instead of thos screwy screw heads. All in all, well worth it ...............oh, and did I mention the neck??!!!

Yep, DBK's are cool. I love the neck on mine too, so thin and easy to play.

The neck is truly a thing of beauty. Unfortunate for those damn screw inlays to be there. I really wouldn't mind them on my dbk that much, but they were put in so-so. There is sawdust in them, and the 24th fret inlays are put in all crappy. Doesn't really matter though. I would suggest trying an evo in the bridge before replacing all the pickups.

Has anyone here ever had dot inlays replaced? I'm going to look into it - I'm thinking abalone dot inlays at least, but pyramids would be excellent.
Just have to justify the price.

I just put a diamond plate pickguard/ truss-rod cover on mine to match the screwhead inlays and it looks KILLER!! Alot cheaper than a inlay job. buy the way, how do like the neck?

So you haven't seen the DBK with the chrome vine yet. That's good, cause if you see it, you'll want it badly.

The pickguard I got on e-bay for $50, and the T/R cover I got from J.W. Custom Pickguards for $20. They sell everything diamond plate from covers to doing the whole front of your guitar. The turnaround time is alittle long since there in Alaska.......Also, you may have to send them your guard or cover if they dont have a template of the shape you want.

If you like the neck on that one you'll like the neck on the RG's, it's the same profile as a Wizard.

One of the reasons (besides cost) I don't have a Jem is because I've become so used to the thin Wizard necks even the only 2mm thicker Jem necks feel too big in my hands.

Thought about buying a 7DBK because of the neck, but I just couldn't live with the 'bumpy' finish and screw-head inlays. :-)

To each his own though. :-)
