New black & white Jem swirl (w/ Assembled pics)
Did this today. It's my first swirl in three years and didn't do any experimenting before dipping the body. Should've because there's some paint drops here and there. But I'm going with this and we'll see how it turns out if I won't mess up badly with the clear coat, as usual
I've a 7VWH neck, cosmo hardware (edge etc) and black pups in spare for this body.
Comments are welcome.

Very nice, I like two-colour swirls, and that one looks great.

Re: New black & white Jem swirl
Thanks!
Today I'll get you some pics with the rest of the parts included. Thought it looks cool with the pups I have, which are black/red (bobbin' toppers) and the middle pup's white.
I hope this will turn out nice.

Some new pics with the missing parts. Not the worst we've seen, right? Maybe I should swirl the headstock, too?

Headstock swirled. Came out a bit black but it's nice when the colour gets darker whean heading to the headstock.
I'll most likely put a red logo in there so it's got some more contrast in the headstock.
Here's it hangin' next to my beloved '89 FP:

Re: New black & white Jem swirl
love it! 1 question, when you do a black white swirl, what color primer are you using?? I'm guessing white but I want to do one this summer and want to be sure.

Yeah, white base coat. Then I used both black and white enamel paints. I've read that some use just black and clear enamels. Haven't tried that, though. The method I used, seems to work just fine.

Humbrol. And make sure you use gloss colors, not matte. Matte is too thick and you should thin it. Glosses work well when poured carefully.

I really like it. I look forward to seeing the red logo on the headstock too, I think that'll be icing on the cake!

Re: New black & white Jem swirl
Started clear coating today. 2 cans of spray lacquer and seems fine, so far. Now the body's hanging and drying outside in the sunlight. Ordered a red decal today. Still gotta buy a clear pickguard.

When I first saw that pic, for like half a second, I was like "uh... those colors don't go so well together."
Then like half a second later i changed my mind and thought it looked really cool!
It does seem a little dark around the butt, though. There is a lot of black paint there + a black tremolo. I wonder what a white bridge would look like. Do they even make those?
Overall, though, I think it looks good.
edit - on second thought I don't even think the black butt/bridge thing is an issue. It looks better every time I look at it.
