New BMC Fingerboard - Rosewood or Maple

I'm looking for some opinions on a fingerboard for a blue/black/silver swirl I am doing. I want black in the pyramid inlays, but am very concerned that black won't show up well enough against the rosewood fingerboard. I then thought I would do maple, but the light color of maple may take away from the dark mystique of a BMC swirl. Any opinions that you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated.

I think maple looks great on many colors, but black blue and silver definitely calls for rosewood. There are plenty of medium-toned rosewoods. I know many times people want their rosewood to look more like ebony, but if you found a medium tone rosewood you could have the best of both.

A member on here had a guitar like that and it looked nice with the rosewood board. Maybe he will chime in.

Thanks to everyone for your replies and thanks for that link. That guitar is a perfect example. If I can get a less dark peice of rosewood, that might be the way to go. That way the black still shows up and I don't detract from the mystique of the guitar. Do you guys think black will show up enough, or will it just look like a hole in the fretboard?

Go Black/blue/pearl. Pyramids always look best in three colors.

You guys are right, I could not imagine the fretboard being anything different than what it is, darker maybe, but nothing lighter and certainly not maple, not for these colors anyway. Definitely go through my photobucket album, there are a bunch of pics.

I really think the black in the inlays would get lost, especially from any kind of distance.

This is the hardest part about doing something custom, you just dont know until it's done. Herc picked the colors and I think he nailed it. You may want to ask who is doing the inlays.
