new UV pickups

Check out the manufacturer's webpage...there is a lot of info there on the differences between the 7s pickups. I love the EVO7. Doesn't "make any sounds" as you put it but it gives your sound a little juice and bite. *Very awesome. Not familiar with the others though.

new UV pickups

Hi GaveUp,

I have the same problem too. I mean, I have a stock 91 Universe and it's time to make a few changes on this axe. I had even asked it on the old forum web page. But, there wasnt much answers or suggestions about my alternative setups.

I haven't done the mod yet but I plan to buy the following within January: :cheesy:

Neck pup: * Seymour Duncan APS Alnico 2 Humbucker
Middle pup: Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder Singlecoil
Bridge pup: Seymour Duncan Custom Custom Custom Humbucker

The latter 2 are custom shop pups and will cost me a fortune. But I really love this guitar and will make the investment.

I chose this pups because what I'm currently missing is warmth in the tone. This is a problem I have in general with Dimarzio pups. The Universe is the only axe I have which is equiped with Dimarzios.

I don't like highoutput pups. I think this setup has a reasonable output, good warmth and punch. I picked the quarter pounder because of it's tonal character (Blackmore) and it's output so that it can cope with the humbuckers.

What sound do you want?

"Gaveup",,,yep these are the 7 string version of the evolution. *They bring out better richer sound that lacks a little in the Blaze/BlazeII pickups. *You really notice the sound difference at higher volume.

new UV pickups

Judging from previous posts on the forum regarding the evo7s, I would stay away from them. Many have said that the evo7s don't provide the same type of tone you get from the evo6 on jems.

I would actually try out other pickup manufacturers, like emg, seymour duncan and bartolini. The dimarzios I have right now are the stock blaze pickups which came with my UV, it really all depends on the type of tone that you're after. If you have the opportunity to try out other pickups, even better!

I have one of the Evo7 and in my opinion the previous negative posts are wrong! The Evo7 has much the same sound going as the 6 version. For only 59$ try it out....
