NGD: 89 JEM777 SK!!!

Here's my new-old SK, courtesy of Ant who sold it to me back in July. She's in fine condition and plays killer. (BTW I don't know if the pics will show up in the thread, so I put a bunch into the SK section of the gallery...)

Max Cottam in the UK polished her up and replaced a few parts for me - a clean 80s cosmo Edge to replace the corroded one, new scratch plate & switch tip. Everything else is as was.

The body colour is solid and bright, but it seems to come out a different colour of pink in each lighting situation. With a flash indoors it seems "grape pink", in sunlight more barbie pink... And to the eye, it's neither of those colors!!!

It's faded for sure, but evenly across the guitar -- I've just never seen a full on mint SK. Surely Rich would know what the real deal ought to be. Anyone here got a verified unfaded one? Post pics for us SK fans

The fading dosen't look that bad. It was debated in here about a JEM777SK on the bay,that was mint. Check that out. Funny how things change,i think i never been that found of all the crazy 80ties colored jems, like i don't care much for a DY,VDY etc,but this jem has starting to grow on me, i was about to buy one like 30days ago, but it got picked up. Think i will have to get one soon or later, but first a 77fp and a 90th ham.
I am trying to remember if ANT had your jem in the classfields? must have?

May i ask what you did pay for it? If you don't wanna tell its cool. Just good to know what to pay for one in about the same condition. The one i was about to grab was way more beat,but wasen't that expensive(but probably to expensive anyway).

gorgeous! doesn't look bad faded like that, I'd a bought it and added it to my collection happily.

Sure - I paid £1000 (through Jemsite classifieds). I spent another £450 on the replacement parts and the set-up/clean. All worth it!

There's a very decent SK on ebay Germany at the moment (from rvj guitars). He's asking too much IMO - €2200ish - but he takes offers.

They come up intermittently, not too difficult to find one in good condition if you keep your eye out here and on ebay.

Ok. Seems like a ok price. Yes have seen meny of the guitars RVJ Guitars sells on the bay.

Magnificent! I have a RGXXV in pink. I bet it doesn't compare to the original SK though.

I've been hanging out with the guitar the last few days, and it's really a weird instrument. It honestly looks more like a toy than a sophisticated instrument. My children are not interested in my guitars yet, but this one is different. They call it the bubblegum guitar - whenever it's out, they're all over it. Then, of course, the Sk gods have to wince...
