noise - ringing noise

I have a Jem7DBK. *When I hit a chord and stop it, my guitar makes this ringing noise, almost like a sustaining hum. *My amp picks this noise up. *Does anybody else have this problem? *If so let me know how this can be fixed if it can. *

Thanks,

Chip

I had this problem with my guitars too. *I thought maybe it was the springs in the trem, so I would suggest taking the back plate off the guitar and incorporate a small piece of rag between the springs to stop the vibrations in them.
Let us know if that does it.

I get a ringing noise when I stop playing too. *But it's just in my ears LOL
Maybe I shouldn't play quite so loud!

I have had this problem in the past with Fender Strats with 3 springs that are stretched really far.

To solve the unwanted reverb, I placed a strip of flet onto the string and used white glue to adhere each end of the stip to the spring hold downs. This makes the felt touch the springs but not ruin your tem action.

hope this helps

If it's a hum you're hearing, then you have a grounding problem either in the guitar, amp, or house.
However, if it's like a reverberated ringing, throw some cotton balls inbetween the springs. That's what Vai does. Felt and rags will do just the same.
