Non scalloped Jem FP

A guy is trying to sell his floral pattern at a local auction site and someone spotted it. From the pictures of the sale a few friends noticed the lack of scallop over the last 4 frets, we were argumenting over our Orkut community about it and then out of the blue the owner showed up.

He said that the guitar is really not scalloped but he insists that the guitar is original, he even tells that his cousin who works at the brazilian distributor have old catalogs, that show versions of FP not scalloped. He says he's the second owner, posted the serial 916223 (1991)

Do any of you guys ever saw an ORIGINAL FP, with non scalloped fretboard ?

FP experts - share your opinions pleaaaaaaase

Re: Non scalloped Jem FP

Other than the non scalloping, the colors for the pickups/knobs are off... I would think faded, but the rest of the guitar doesn't look faded...

Also the Photo is at a glare and at a distance... most sellers of the real deal want to get as close as possible to show detail.

Re: Non scalloped Jem FP

It does look it, but it may just be a factory slip then, it has happened before..

Re: Non scalloped Jem FP

in 91' it changed to a lo-pro.

Theres only 2 things this could be.

A: Ibanez mistake and it got past the inspectors.
B: A replacement Board, something happened, a re-fret gone wrong or something.

Theres plenty of Luthors who to vine board replacements and do it well enough to make it look stock.

Re: Non scalloped Jem FP

I sold an authentic 7PBK that was not scalloped. Had all the original markings on the neck and all that jazz, do a search on this forum and you'll see that the 7PBK has had that issue a handful of times, so I wouldn't be surprised if it has happened to a 77FP. Just take the neck off and look at the bottom .

Re: Non scalloped Jem FP

My PBK neck also doesn't have scaloped frets. Must've been a Monday/Friday guitar.

I think I recall seeing a Chibanez on the 'bay that was a Floral Pattern job. I would check it good.
