Odd Jem555

I found this on ebay, kind of a weird lookin thing, with a black pickguard and there is no plaque in it, but there are the 2 dots.

Is this just a customized job or is it a real guitar?

The original JEM555s (JEM Jr.) didn't say "Steve Vai" on the 24th fret. Looks better without the nameplate, IMHO.
