Odd serial number in my PMC?

I was just reading the Jemsite's section about the specs of the Jems and i found, as i knew, that the PMC's were only produced between 92 and 93. But in my PMC the serial number is 917808, so it was built in 91... i think this is odd. What do you think? Is it normal to build a guitar one years before the date of it's release?

Glen, this question wouldn't get asked every 4 months if you could add a little blurb to the spec sheet "all PMC's will have either 90' or 91' neck plates", all UVMC's will have either 90' or 91' neck plates". Thanks

Oh, ok, that answers my question.

It was strange to have a PMC with a neck plate of 91 when they were released in 92 and 93.

Hmmm... you've never come across a '92 plate on a MC/PMC? I'll update that...glen

I'd have to pull and recheck all my PMC discs, but I'd say no.

Heh I remember asking this question about my GMC

The explanation I got before was that Ibanez and ATD made the guitars in 91, but because ATD had to paint them all they didn't get released until '92
