Okay, here's a "different" question (7VWH)
I currently own a '93 7VWH. I've owned various other years of this model ('99 - '02), but none of them have felt the same as my '93. The neck feels fatter and more "solid", for lack of a better term. Also, the guitar overall feels a bit heavier and more "solid." Has anyone else experienced this, and perhaps does anyone know if this was unique to '93, or did it trickle down to say '94 or '95?

Many people claim the first year models to be better...who knows, maybe you got one of those models.

I never liked 93's, they've got a thick coat of gloss clear on the necks. [at least the ones I've had did]

Yes, this one does as well, but it's not so bad. True, it's not that satin-like feel, but it's tolerable. What are your thoughts in regard to the '93s, aside from the neck gloss that is?

Sloppy
neck pockets
, terrible scallops, lousy fret end radiusing, but on the plus side, there are 93's that actually have nide bright inlays in the scallops, and the pink lined case is always a plus

Do you know why every other year after the 93 models had crappy high-fret inlays? Of course the problem was fixed around 2001, but it's strage to hear that they looked good around 1993...?

Evidently they had it right at at the start and then botched the job, for 8 years straight. It's either a dull router or too slow/fast a speed but they were burning the inlays. You can't even sand them to get down to a bright layer.

Okay, so how do the '94's compare? Are they closer to the '93s, or closer to the later models that I've already owned?

I've never had a 94' that I can recall. I'll buy 93's if they're clean just because of the whole first year buyer mentality thing, otherwise I try to only buy post 00's
