OMG someone is gonna do something bad... - set on fire their

This is taken from the newsgroup uk.music.guitar...

I've been toying for a while with a few ideas about how to customise my old
JEM777DY. first I was going to chrome it, but that would look bad with the
pyramid neck, so I'm going to chrome my 550 instead.

then I was just going to strip it down to bare wood and change the pickups,
but today me and a pal came up with a radical new idea.

the plan is to take all the hardware and the neck off, hang the body by the
monkey grip in an outdoor area, add petrol, then apply fire.

I just want to see what happens as the yellow finish burns! obviously this
will be done, as I say, outdoors, and with those fume masks you get from DIY
stores, and with due care and attention with the petrol, and with plenty of
water/sand available.

but... I wondered if there's anything in those finishes that I really
shouldn't be burning.

I can guess that the fumes won't be nice, and I intend to avoid them as much
as possible, but are they going to be highly toxic? is this a viable
project?

thanks for any advice!

ps. oh, and plenty of pics/video will be taken as it happens...

anyone got any tips? is the acrylic paint or whatever going to cause killer
fumes? or explode? or something...?

cheers!

It sounds terrible but I'd still like to see the video.

Once I saw a Les Paul Sunburst burnt like that. And I thought that this was the coolest Les Paul I've ever seen. It was on a Marshall ad, do you people remember this one?
And as for the Jem, who knows...it might be interesting, though I would never ever do this to mine!

I assume you've all seen SSV's 'Monterey UV' as featured in the FTLOG video.

Charbroiled, just like Clive's will be. *Not such a bad idea - although a pink one might be more 'deserving'
