passion and warfare swirl coloured

Hi everbody!

i 've Just bought the guitar book of passion and warfare...

I am wondering something, on the cover i see steve vai with his 7 strings guitar which has no monkey grip. but inside the book, the are others pictures of a guitar which has exactly the same design, same colour same shape, but with a monkey grip!!!!!! *HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?

is it possible to get 2 guitars with exactly the same swirl colour design...?

this is an old one...

no, swirls are all unique, you can't control the patterns of the paint. Ibanez had to edit that pic to make the guitar look stock, so that fans wouldn't feel ripped off for not having the same guitar as Steve.

It was due to some legal issues, a trademark or a copywrite or one of the such...

the two universes with/without monkey grip with the same swirl are actually one in the same... the universe without the monkey grip actually has one, but was airbrushed out of the picture... some legality issue about the monkey grip only licenced for use on Jems.

Darren/ATD already confirmed this a while back on the forum. To paraphrase...

The UV was not supposed to have the monkeygrip, since it was a new direction from the JEM and a new model line. Darren swirled that UV for Vai, but along the way, the axe had a monkeygrip cut in without permission... glen
