People who smash up their JEM's

I personally don't understand it when I see a $5,000 JEM worn to heck. I'm interested in what you guys think the reason most likely is.

Re: People who smash up their JEM's

Personally i don't understand either, it's probably because of the fact they have money i suppose and know they can just buy another. I always take care of my 2 JEMS, 1 has only just been bought, and the other is my first JEM i got awhile back(many years back) the GMC, i have gigged that a few times but i have always took care of her, kept her in shape and so on.

Guitars are to be played and unfortunatly stuff happens when you use them a lot.

Re: People who smash up their JEM's

If you bought a new Ferrari would you park it between the shopping cart return and the '81 Buick with all the door dings at you local Wal Mart? Even if I had tons of money, I think I'd still do my best to take care of my stuff so that I'd protect my investments. If you don't care about taking care of valuable things, why have them in the first place? This is an OLD argument, and eveyone has different opinions. I hate to see nice guitars get torn up, but hey, they're not MY guitars.

It's supposed to be played and get dings and scratches and get worn out, Dings, scratches and worn out = Real guitar

I agree, play it and don't worry about dings and dents. That's not to say you should be driving nails by swinging the Jem by it's neck.....but just play it.

Get lost in the moment, feel the music and whatever happens, happens.

Are you saying my Jems aren't REAL guitars, Alf???

Dudes.....ya don't have to dent and ding up your guitars to play them

I don't know HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE TO SAY THIS

I play and gig all of mine. My VWH even went international and shared a stage with 20 other guitairsts. (2 years in a row)

They are ALL still mint! I really don't see what the problem with being congnat of other band members and furniture, etc when you are playing? It's NOT that difficult!

Jems are beautiful creations and should remain that way. Jems and dings don't go togther (at least in my book)

And don't give me none of that EVO is beat up crap

If I EVER dang dinged one of my babies I'd be HELLA PISSED!!!!!!

I say if yoiu want a beat up guitar, then relic and old strat or something and leave the Jems pristene!

Okay......that is the perspective from a (player/collector)

Re: People who smash up their JEM's

Where's the "Who Cares?" option?
Some people take pristine care of their guitars and expect it out of others, meanwhile, other people beat the crap out of their guitars and think that pristine guitars are lacking soul/character/mojo/whatever.
In the end, I say who cares. If you're happy with the way your guitars look, and don't really care what anyone else says, more power to ya.
I happen to like guitars with some wear, but I'm not going to browbeat someone who takes really good care of their guitars. It's pretty stupid to make fun of someone for being "neat and responsible'. I'm cool either way, as long as you play them with all your heart and soul. That's all that really matters.

I'm with Jim on this one. Play them and enjoy them but take care, these things are expensive.

I play my Suhr everyday, and there isn't a mark on it

I may be a twenty something, piss poor guitar player struggling through community college living in a tiny hillbilly town, but that doesn't mean I don't have a vocabulary or education. I'm like the Millenium Falcon...
