Piezo

I have a 1990 777vbk, and I am wondering about a piazo pickup for it. Are any mods required? is it easy to install? any info on these will be appreciated!

Re: Piezo

Don't ruin that guitar, sell it to me and get a PRS Hollowbody with a piezo.

Re: Piezo

Devon,

No it isn't an easy install. You have to drill holes, probably route the body, do some very delicate wiring, etc. But the biggest problem is simply finding the parts you need. You can search for a while with a fat checkbook, or you can go the "roll-your-own" route, building something out of aftermarket components. You'd be better off just buying something with the piezo bridge already installed.

Re: Piezo

The cheapest and most simple way to go about it would be to buy the whole setup out of a stripped RG2120X, RG2020X, or RG620X. Those models come stock with the Ibanez 'Double Edge' bridge which has the piezo saddles built right in. Installation would not be that difficult, depending on one's ability of course.

I've seen those setups go between $500-$600 on the auction site. That's a little pricey ... but the ease of installation may make it worth it.

FWIW, I've had two RG2120s and really loved being able to blend the piezo with the humbuckers for a whole new array of sounds. VERY cool stuff. I will undoubtedly own one again someday.
