The D-Sonic is a pretty awesome pickup for rhythm. Just make sure that you face the bar towards the bridge.

Re: placing d-sonic

hmm. what about it's lead work?? I have a band like dream theater(petrucci) so both lead and rhythm are very important for me. has anyone tried it on jem 7v??

Mine is in a S470DX and I love it. It's a great all-around pickup for both rhythms and leads but it definitely does rhythm the best. If you want something a bit heavier on leads then I would go with an EVO 2.

Re: placing d-sonic

Yeah...but the Mo Joe isn't really a "high output pickup" and since he mentioned the D-sonic I figured he was looking for something a bit more high output.

Re: placing d-sonic

yeah you are right. I am actually lookin for "high output" ones. and I dont want a treble-characterized pickup like evo. I just want petrucci's tones =)) what about steve's special? have you tried it?

Re: placing d-sonic

hmmm... I just installed the Evo 2 into my S series. Now, we all know Sabers have thin mahogany bodies and the tone isn't quite as thick as even an RG.

I thought the Evo 2 was PATHETIC at chug! NO BASS!!!

Then I moved to a 12" speaker equipped amp. Right on man. :P

Have you tried playing with larger speakers? Evos are extremely tight and have tremendous harmonics... however, I feel they perform as they should and more, at higher volumes, with bigger speakers.

i disagree somewhat, the bar to the bridge does give a better sound for drop tunnings in rythem , but if you need the sound to cut more face the bar to the neck . It is more powerful and edgey and could really give dropped tunning some kick .

I'd have to disagree with that slightly because when I tried facing it the other way it lost a LOT of articulation (which is one of the main reasons I got the pickup) and it wasn't nearly as tight-sounding.

Re: placing d-sonic

i put mine in a basswood guitar and it was neck through . I really liked it alot better toward the neck but each to thier own . It definetly somthing to play with , the pickup does change a lot depending on orientation .

like i said i sold the guitar the pickup was in but i got another one and the guitar i am going to put in will be here tuesday so i'll have some new clips to throw up . The guitar is a fernandes revolver pro with a sustianer , the body is basswood as well . So it should make for an interesting combo .
