Played a JEM today
Wow, I don't think I've ever played a guitar this cool. It was white W/gold hardware,
pearl pickguard
and vine inlay. I think the folks at Guitar Center were a little put off because I played the blues on that thang (Little Red Rooster and Catfish Blues). Dang that JEM screamed.
It made me feel good about how I set up my '93 RG. (Thanks jemsite.com and Rich Harris).
I just wanted to tell y'all that you don't have to be a shredder to appreciate these fine guitars.
ROCK ON

Re: Played a JEM today
Yeah, they tried real hard too sell that JEM to me. I wanted it real bad! But my blues is so hard that the old RG I already got cost more than my car. There is no way I could ever afford a JEM.
Those of you that own one should feel lucky!

Jems are alright, funny though, how an RG550 was alot cheaper, but to me plays better, I prefer my 550 over any Jem.

Re: Played a JEM today
I love the way my 777vbk plays, and the way the 92 USCG does, you cant really compair the two, two different beast.
I also have a 97 FGM400 that I love, but there again, I really can't say I prefer one over the other .
The necks are all different, the sounds, the mojo/feel all different, all of them are awesome in there own way, but its way too hard to say one is better than the other IMO.

ROCK ON
Dude, I ain't no shredder either but the Jem is just so versatile onstage. You can get a good metal sound from the humbucker, flick to the middle single for some stratty twang and a beautiful round full neck humbucker sound for cool bluesy stuff with everything in between on positions 2 and 4 on the selector switch. Even just rolling back the volume will give you an almost clean sound with next to no volume loss on a fully distorted channel.....I don't know how that happens but I do love that ability.
One of the best guitars for versatility in my opinion.
