Played a JEM77B...
My general view on it will be honest here.
It was well setup. Not far off how i set my own guitars up i guess. Nice neck to it. Good tone, all the usual stuff.
However, this is what i'm getting to in this post...
I was really unimpressed.
Prehaps i was hyping it up in my mind, but it didn't warrant the £2000 price tag. I'd go so far as to say that my RG1550 is almost as good quality/sound and feel wise.
Anyone else agree with me here, or am i gonna be burnt on the steak?

~BURN~
Hmm...surprising. I love the feel of mine! It plays better and has better tone than all of my Jems.
But then again.....I got mine from Rich
Setup makes ALL the difference

Yeah but it was setup near enough how i have my RG1550 (which i love) and it felt pretty much the same :S
Just a thought. It's cool if anyone that has one loves it. It's all opinion anyway, but putting £2000 down on one is a bit crazy for me (the poor student

Re: Played a JEM77B...
Well with a JEM, you're primarily paying for the collector's value. Yes, JEM's usually play, feel, and sound better than most RG's (except J-Custom's and old USA Customs), but I also don't feel that they warrant such a high list price. That's why I'd only pay up to $1500 max for a JEM. Anything above is absurd (unless you are buying a very rare collector's JEM, like the 10th).
Don't worry, you won't be burned at the steak.

That's why ever price is negotiable.
got my UV for $1599, with case, candy etc.
However, i do feel you are right in a way. Many of the list prices are rediculous. over $3000 list for a bad horsie? come on.
to me, guitars are meant to be played. even if i did buy a collector's jem or whatever, it's still a guitar, and i would still play it regardless. i sure as hell would get my money's worth out of that thing.

Not worth the $$. My Jem 7vwh is just as nice. I just can't use it to comb my hair in the reflection.

You got it all wrong.
A Jem is a gift to yourself, an investment in your musicianship, a continuous remembrance of your Desire to master the guitar and a daily motivator to practice guitar with that Jem. I bought mine new, and will play it to dust. I now know that I'll never sell it. And it cost me like $2500.
You won't know how it is to own your own brandnew Jem, until you open that case and realize that she's all yours now, similar as taking a beautiful woman home and waking up in the morning to see her sleep next to you and realize that all you did that night is at your continuous disposal now.
And wait until you see my Jem7VRMR with
chrome Vine

Jean Paul
