Please help with JEM serial#

I'm looking at a JEM Desert Yellow over the internet and the guy tells the serial# is 292528. *He also tells me this is the guitar Steve Vai personally played in Whitesnake. *He is very serious and seems convincing. *Pics look good. *Any way this is true? The serial# doesn't jive with what I see on Jemsite, but I figure it might be a prototype or something. *Any ideas?

Not a prototype....a typo.
Ask the guy again....Tell him to put on his glasses and read the number from the neck plate.

OK, I just emailed him.

The DSY's get a little tricky. *The first digit for the 90's models tells you the year. *Thus, it's a 1992.

Don't write the poor guy telling him he has eye problems.

OK, but he just emailed me back and said "whoops, its actually 892528", so I guess it's an '89. *Was Steve Vai in Whitesnake in 1989?
