Pointers on buying a 2nd Hand Jem7VWH - What to look out for

Hi chaps,
I've found a VWH for £795 which I'm going to have a look at on Tuesday night.

The seller says it's in good condition, with just a couple of small chips around the MG and Jack area.
It also needs a new bridge pickup.

Asides from what I normally look at when buying a new guitar, are there any particular areas I should look more closely at with the VWH, or any common problems that occur?

Thanks
Steve

£795 is a good price. I bought a 2nd user Jem7VWH which was in excellent condition, but frets 22 & 23 had both lifted from the ebony. There was about a 1 mm gap under each fret @ the high E side. The guitar was a 1999 issue.

Cheers,
I'll make sure I look out for that one.

I was a little concerned about his bridge pickup going kapputt on him, it made me wonder what he'd been doing with it , and he's swapped the neck pup into the bridge position, so that's a little more work for me to do, but as long as the guitar is sound then I'll be grabbin' it.

I've got mine for £620 and it was in mint condition and with a case.
It seems to me strange that bridge pick-up is damaged.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the neck pickup won't work right in the bridge position because of the 'F-Spacing" in the bridge pickup. *The strings won't be aligned propery with the magnets.

Wish I could help more, but I have no idea how much *795 Lbs. is (i don't even know where the key is!)

Somebody is selling 2 Evo pickups on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1402482114 on the neck and
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1402482095 for the bridge.

They don't close 'til next week, so if you buy the guitar, keep that in mind....

JEMs have F-spaced neck and bridge pickups. To be honest you could use the standard ones without any real sonic difference.

In regard to the VWH, I would inspect it like any other used guitar if possible. See the jemsite-->Guitar area for tips. Good luck... glen

Those 2 auctions are for black Evo's. I personally like the white ones with gold polepieces for the VWH. But that's individual taste. Actually black ones may look pretty cool. The non F-Spaced factor won't be a big problem. I had a S540 with a non F-Spaced PU, couldn't tell the difference...

Is it me or is a 65 dollar buy price a bit steep for a used DiMarzio? I think when I ordered a set about 2 years ago they cost around 100 for both...

i put an SD Full Shred Humbucker in the bridge of my jackson, before learning abt TremBuckers... oops! *but it sounds good... i cant really tell a difference... they don't get louder when i bend the strings or anything. *

but i still cant believe i didn't know that. *=X
