Position of the Trem Spring Claw Screws on A JEM ?
How deep in the JEM trem cavity are the Spring
claw screws
positioned?
Are they at an angle?

There's no set amount per say. You have to adjust the springs to align the trem and make it leveled. That will vary from guitar to guitar and depending on how you want the tail of the trem to be (whether high or low).
check this page for reference in the subject:
http://www.jemsite.com/tech/1setup.htm#step1
And here's a reference image for reference:

Re: Position of the Trem Spring Claw Screws on A JEM ?
So the 2 adjustment screws are positioned differently on every JEM, depth wise?
It would be good to have a value of reference from a JEM (FP) owner.
This is important since I'm drilling it now and can't re-do it.
I see no value on Floyd roses Edge manual either.

yeah you should go by the knife edge line, as is probably in the link above.

That's just settings.
Or shall I adjust it relatively to the block? Heh.
I'm talking where to Drill the holes for the Claw screws, distance between back face of
guitar body
to Drill-hole center.
Some pictures I see have the screws inserted almost at the floor/roof of the trem cavity. That's ca 18mm down.

Re: Position of the Trem Spring Claw Screws on A JEM ?
aah in that case i don't think it really matters too much, it's just an anchor point for you to adjust spring tension, i'd just try to get it level with the
trem block
you're putting the springs into i guess
although.. maybe a little lower so the springs pull down into the block slightly.. which might matter if you don't use that spring
retainer bar
screwin thing on the bottom of the block..

Re: Position of the Trem Spring Claw Screws on A JEM ?
I don't think the lateral placement of the screw holes is that important, as long as they're somewhere near the middle. Even if you got them way off, what would be important is supplying the bottom of the trem with even force accross it. This could be done by adjusting the screws slightly different to each other to compensate for any offset in drilling.
However I would remember that the lower you drill them (into the cavity) the lower the trem will have to sit to avoid the springs catching on the edge of the cavity). I would make sure of this to avoid having to put a massive shim in.

Then why didn't you ask that question in the first place????
Personally (and this is just my personal opinion, so don't use this as a rule), I would measure the length of the thread on the screws, add about 1/8 of an inch to that length and drill that much into the body.
Whatever additional adjustments you might need to make once the trem is intstalled, you will do them using a screwdriver anyway, but the initial hole will be there.
Guys, anyone else care to shed some light on the subject? I looked at the Edge installation manual and it doesn't mention anything about the depth required for the screws that hold the spring claw.

Re: Position of the Trem Spring Claw Screws on A JEM ?
To clarify the matter...
It has nothing to do with the position of the Screws in the holes (for now).
What I want to know is where to DRILL THE HOLES.
If a JEM owner simply opened the trem cover, the issue would be resolved in 5 seconds.

Re: Position of the Trem Spring Claw Screws on A JEM ?
It appears to be about 9.5mm from the inside of the 3mm lip to the center of the screw. 12.5mm from the back side face as you illustrated.
They appear slightly angled also..... Put the bridge in place and check it by eye with a spring and claw attached after you mark your locations.

Re: Position of the Trem Spring Claw Screws on A JEM ?
What if the screw holes gets positioned so low that the claw gets in contact with the
tremolo cavity
's "Floor"?
Shouldn't the claw be "Free floating" with no contact exept with the springs and Screws?
I have seen Pics of claws lying firmly against the Cavity's "floor".

I'm not 100% sure but I think that's an old trick to compensate for extremely worn springs ie to add stiffness you can make them drag on the cavity. I personally think this would affect the return to zero too much but I haven't experimented myself.
