That stuff is a bit much.

If he is one of "Australia's top technical/progressive guitarists" then more power to him. I've never heard of him though. First thing I did was try to find a website with info on him... couldn't find one...

But still, who am I to judge someone I don't know.

Hard to really "hear" anything. (sound-quality wise...I'm not making any judgement on the music)
Not my cup of tea. But you know, whatever. He can play.

Back on topic, soooo...I guess we may or may not have gotten some bad VWH's in Australia.

Rich,
I had a 2003 DBK and a RG1550 in the local store here that I went and looked at and the string locking blocks were some form of composite material, not steel. I thought that was pretty cheesy, are they not composite? these ones were for sure, the DBK had the low E and A blocks split right from the string all the way back. I couldn't care less about the ball holder thingies in plastic, but the lock blocks were definitely not steel of any sort.
Was there a different run and they changed the material? I haven't a clue, those are the only 2 I've seen, but I promise you they were a composite material, not a steel.

Well they aint plastic. Some sort of "castable" metal as they aren't machined, but they are metal. Haven't seen any problem with them yet [and hope to never]

well, these were certainly not a metal, I thought about a casting as well, but any castable metal will be magnetic, these weren't I don't know, don't really care anyway hehehe. I personally didn't care for the feel of the new trem vs the old ones.

As for this "guitar god" guy, I'm listening to face of god right now, well, I won't rush out for the album, you'd really think that someone who is supposedly so highly reknowned could afford some decent recordings though, I can't hear crap.

I listened to all of them and all I can say is, "huh?"

Not my type of music, mind you, but I listen to everything for inspiration and this just doesn't inspire me at all, no insult intended . . . just my opinion and everyone has one . . .

Odd but I thought this thread was about a "wierd" VWH, not the skills or taste of the posters playing and/or writing skills

When have you EVER known me to stay on topic??? :P

Okay, not the EXACT same trem, but I picked up my co-worker's 03 RG 370 and on his Edge Pro II I could squeal, dive, bounce, pull up and (try to) flutter while the harmonic was sounding with no lack of sustain . . . back on topic. :-D

Thanks for all your responses

Thanks everyone for all of your responses.

Definetely, the issue of different materials and the introduction of plastic parts may be the cause of opposing certain frequencies, and dampening the sound.

If there is a serious design problem, lets hope it's a simple fix for Ibanez.

Thanks
Lenny

Nah, I just can't see this being blamed on the trem, and I've never pulled any punches about where the new trem is coming up short. I still have to point a finger at the electrics or one dead piece of wood. I'd like to know what it sounded like unplugged, you can tell more about a guitar's character unplugged than you can plugged
