question about 7vwh pickups marking

I have a chance to get a set of evolutions off of a 7vwh at a bargain price.
the thing is that the pickups are not on the guitar right now so I asked the guy to look at the back of the pickups and tell me if they are marked dp159/158. he said theres nothing there. the impresion I got from this guy is that he does not have much info or knowledge on Jems. so if anyone of you 7vwh owners removed the pickguard and looked, can you tell me if theres anything ingraved on them evos or not, that will be great.

Re: question about 7vwh pickups marking

I've never looked to be honest, but assuming they have gold pole pieces I'd say it's worth the chance.

Re: question about 7vwh pickups marking

I'm holding a Bridge P/U from a 05 JEM7VWH right now..... it marked with an "F", as well as DiMarzio Pickups, Made in the USA, and has a V-3 all stamped in it. Not to mention the little US patent number sticker on it. Along with the gold pole pieces. The Neck P/U is stamped the same except it has V-2 on it. Plus all Dimarzio's have the name stamped into the bobbin cover too as far as I know.

Hope that clears things up for ya!

Re: question about 7vwh pickups marking

Sounds strange, EVO says on mine, F indicate its f spaced, followed by dimarzio pickups made in USA and then DP159/8. Also carries a patent sticker.

Re: question about 7vwh pickups marking

^^^ The replacments I bought with colored bobbins have the DP #'s on them. (the back) But the originals don't. They just have the V3 and V2 on them besides everything else I mentioned, but they came right out of my JEM7VWH shortly after I bought it new. Go figure.... What year was yours Necro?

I just noticed the black and red bobbin ones I have don't have "DiMarzio" molded in the plastic covers either. Just the originals...... Who knows....

Re: question about 7vwh pickups marking

There is no such thing as a JEM555 with gold hardware, only the fakes feature this!!!! Be VERY CAREFUL!

Get him to send photos.

Like others have said, sounds like he's parting out a Chibanez.

Re: question about 7vwh pickups marking

I'm suppose to meet him today and take a look at the pickups. I checked 555 pictures and realized it doesn't have gold hardware. another thing I realized was that the evos on it has black pole pieces so it's becoming trickier.
Anyway I'll let you know. thanks for the help so far.

Re: question about 7vwh pickups marking

If they are legit, it will have DiMarzio engraved under the poll piece.
