Re: question about neck

when you pull back on the neck? don't you mean on the whammy bar? if that's the case, yeah maybe you do have a backbow (stupid biflex truss rods...haha) but it's hard to say without actually looking at your guitar.

if may also be that your action is way too low.

Re: question about neck

no I do not mean tremelo. Ina seated position if Iput tension on the body and neck at the same time it chokes the strings .Not heavy abusive pressure .

Re: question about neck

first why in the world would you do that? it's going to happen on pretty much any guitar, wood bends so naturally if you put both in tension that way it's going to pull the strings closer to the neck. So either the action is fairly low so when you pull the strings touch the frets or you are just pulling way to much which you shouldn't really do to start with. This isn't the 50's man, there is no need to do neck bends like way anymore.

Take it in for a setup if you can't do a good one yourself. I think some of us thought you were going 'Billy Sheehan' on it

Re: question about neck

That neck is very flexable as it is so thin. I think it might be the thinnest Ibanez ever made. They play incredibly well, but you sure can bend the thing. The truss rod should be adjusted so there is a very slight bow (aka "relief"). If you fret the low E string at fret 1 and fret 20, there should be a little space between the string and the middle frets.

Re: question about neck

that's a great way to get NJ cracks. any guitar you play will do that and even more so will the DBK due to the super-thin neck.

DON"T PULL BACK on the headstock problem solved.

Re: question about neck

I agree that the 7DBK neck is the most flexible neck Ibanez has ever made. But it sure does play nice!!! I guess they aren't for the "animal" type players. Maybe you should slap on a Wizard II neck which is a lot stiffer and beefier. Then put the old neck back on if you ever decide to sell the guitar?
