heres a few things that are prevalent to my questions. i'm looking into a guitar for heavy metal playing. i currentlly have six
string guitars with d tuning, would like to go lower but switching to guages higher than 10's.... on a reg six for the strings never cared for all the added tension from the higher
guage strings.
ive never played a 7 string nor can i get access to one.
-would a 7 string be a good alternative with the added b string for lower tones for rythem playing.
-does the b string sound muddy?
-with the lower b string, what wood and pick-up config lend to a good heavy metal sound without sounding like the guitar is drowning? my fav six string has a korina body with a dimarzio d-activator in the bridge. would this config be approperiate or is a brighter wood recommended for a 7?
thanks
