Refinished BSB

This is s bsb I bought a few months ago.It was quite worn out when I got it and I decided to refinish the guitar.Trying to track down the exact wood dye in the UK is very difficult, having seen the Project Guitar site showing the dye to be Minwax wood dye colour green bayou I thought great only to find this product is only avalible in the states.

It was possible to get the colour from a supplier in Leeds but the body had to be sent to Chesterfield to be spectrum analysed at there head office.I thought this was a bad idea as the body would more than likley got lost or damaged in transit.

I must point out that 10 years ago bright coloured wood dyes like blue, green, yellow, red were popular in the UK but these days they are not.

In the end I found that Briwax do a range of colours including blue, but only blue with no shades of it.Anyway I bought the blue and gave it a go.Its more blue than green but I think it looks quite well, its a much big improvment on what it was.I took out the blow lamp and burnt the body a lot more, this was a lot easier than I expected.

Heres the befour and after pics,I look forward to your comments, good or bad.

Thanks.

Nice job, I wasn't overly keen on that finish, but yours I could definitely live with.

Surprising the amount of people here from West Yorks isn't it.
