Richie Kotzen's Jem? in rock chops video - What guitar does

What guitar is Richie Kotzen playing in his 1990 Reh "Rock Chops" video?

It looks like a custom jem:
frankenstein graphic body, same p/u's as early 777, rosewood fingerboard with 21-24 scalloped, and the volume knob is one inch away from the bridge p/u and the p/u selector is on the top horn.

Anyone know what guitar this is based on and was it ever a production model?

It's a custom Ibanez made for him specifically. *I believe that unofficially, it is called "Horror Comic." *Very sweet indeed.

The guitar that Richie is playing in his instuctional video is a modified RG570. The electronics and hardware are just about identical to the early Jems, with the addition of a coil tap switch (the toggle switch by the neck pickup).

After Richie stopped endorsing Ibanez, he sold the guiar to one of his students, who sold it to the Sam Ash store in King of Prussia, PA. (I played it there about two years ago). I was tempted to buy it, but didn't. It still had Richie's name in script on the headstock.

The going price was $650, no case.

Cheers,
Butch
