Rust on VWH

Any advise on how to get rid of some rust I have on my JEM VWH? I find them on the screws on the scratch guard and also the nut.

Thanks.

Re: Rust on VWH

Replace the screws and the nut, that would solve the problem the easiest.

The easist thing to do about the screws is just goto home depot or lowes
and buy new screws. There isn't anything special about the ones in your guitar.

By no means am I saying this is the correct thing to do ..
but I use Castrol Super clean for a lot of my non essential hardware.

I'll just fill a little dish with it and drop rusty things in it and it usually
breaks up the rust.

Re: Rust on VWH

maybe if you put them in coca-cola the rust comes off. i tried it with a penny and it worked. give it a go with 1 and see if it works (have to leave it overnight!)

actually just so you know..
i saw the show "myth busters" when they
took it apon themselves to test the coca cola myth.
Turns out..its a myth.

Every single thing people say they could clean with coke
didnt do anything different than water.

Re: Rust on VWH

Castrol super clean is by FAR the best stuff ive ever used
for cleaning stuff. (not house hold stuff..but car wheels.. rusty things..etc)

Just try not to get it on your fingers cuz it literally will melt your fingerprints smooth haha
Which i guess if you're a thief is a good thing

Re: Rust on VWH

Thanks Fellas-
The rust in the nut is very minute and should come off easily.
It's the rust of the screws that are bad.

i use it to clean off crud/corrosion from my car battery. it seems to work better than water - but i have never tried putting it to the test ala "myth busters".

well using coke as a cleaner has definately been a "known" thing
for a very very long time, hence the reason they decided to do it
on "mythbusters"

cool show! i dont see it very often but its always interesting when i do
