Some doubts on the Jem 555
I'm from argentina and recently I saw a brand new Jem 555 at a local store. It featured an Edge Pro II tremolo, and when I started researching about this model on ibanez.com I realized that the new ones comes with an Edge III.
I also noticed the same strange thing in the Rg 350. I bought one last year and it came with an Egde III and infinity pickups, but in a spanish magazine I saw that this model in spain comes with an Edge Pro II and lower quality pickups.
Whis could this be? I'm saving for a Jem 555 but I'm afraid that the ones I can get in my country may not come with
Dimarzio Evolution pickups
.
If someone knows the answer please tell me!

Re: Some doubts on the Jem 555
I never followed the 555 too close anyway I thought a big problem people had with the 555 was the pickups. I'll shut up now.

Yep! EVO's
With the half vine and crappy trem, that was the only selling point
(other than being a wannabe fanboy

i was gonna say EVO's ,but cause of the

i really hate the "
steve vai
" on the 24th fret it makes it look so cheap.

I hate it too. And anyway, Steve said long ago that he didn't want his name on the JEM at all. So what gives?

Re: Some doubts on the Jem 555
All they need to do is get rid of the "Steve Vai" inlay and the silly half vine and it's a pretty good guitar. Even dots would be OK.

Re: Some doubts on the Jem 555
I had an 03' and it had the EVO's and the EDGE II trem.
Didn't they can the edge II in favor of the Edge III just this year?

As far as I know, they had the TRS. At least the ones I saw / played.

Re: Some doubts on the Jem 555
This year Ibanez replaced the Edge Pro 2's on their guitars with Edge 3's. Is the edge 3 a better trem than the edge pro 2? And, I think the half vine on the 555 is pretty cool, I just can't stand the Steve Vai inlay at the 24th fret! IMO, if they got rid of just that one thing, the guitar would look a lot less cheap. I like the way the half vine looks in this pic from vai.com on the sights and sounds page.

i have never played an edge III but i have owned an rgt42 (which had an edge pro II) for about 8 months.
it was a decent trem. i'm not to keen on the look of the edge III

Re: Some doubts on the Jem 555
The Edge III is supposed to be pretty good. An improvement over the previous junk, hopefully.
