Stock string brand on Jem7V?

I don't know what brand of strings arrived on my VSBL, but they're not like any of the strings on my other Ibanez models. These puppies endured over four months of heavy playing, and were still usable when I swapped them. I'd say that 80% of my practice time has been on that guitar, and in that same time I had to swap several sets on my other guitars.

I clean strings rigorously after (and during) each practice session, both to maintain tone and feel of my strings over a long haul - and those stock strings totally responded to that. I've tried my usual Blue Steels and D'Addarios since, but they feel and sound worse after a week than those originals sounded after four months.

I searched the forums and discovered a promising thread about a brand called "Elixors". I half suspect that someone bought my VSBL before me, put special strings on it, but then returned it.

My brother just bought a new Ibanez BTB six-string bass with factory-installed Elixirs, so maybe you're onto something there.

I thought Ibanez had some special dual-metal strings wound for the BTB series.

I stand corrected! I guess that was a few years ago that they were doing their own exclusive strings.

So you're saying that those Elixir strings are good or even better than Dean Markleys and D'Addarios heh... Never tried them. Are they really that good?

I'd give a slight edge to the sound of the Blue Steels I put on there, but with humming computers, buzzing lights, and the loud traffic outside, I think I'll err on the side of strings that only need to be changed three times a year. Thx for the info!
