such large different in pricing of jems
why is there such a huge difference in pricing? i thought the hardware were almost identical between most of them. like say why is JEM7DBK 1600 when a 7VWH is 2300 and the JEM77BRM 3000?
are the pricing difference from the pickups?

Re: such large different in pricing of jems
There's a little more to it than that, different body woods and pickups between a 7VWH and a DBK, the inlay also adds to the price, the gold hardware, as far as I know, the BRMR is so expensive strictly because of the finish, i think it's a VWH with a mirror top that adds to the price, but I'm sure someone else could tell you better.

The BRMR's basswood with Breeds as well, so it's a DBK with the mirror top, really.

Re: such large different in pricing of jems
No, evos sound different than breeds. Not necessarily a big difference in cost.
I had a Jem7DBK with breeds and it was truly a wonderful guitar. I got rid of it only because I had to. I've got a Jem90 now with Evo's and I'll never part with this guitar.
Best Jem for the price though? Hands down, the 7DBK in my opinion.
(yes, they're all pretty expensive. but they're worth it)

Re: such large different in pricing of jems
seems like the price difference is smaller than it seems.
a 93 7vwh just sold for 1600 and there's a new 77brm for 2000.
edit: the winner out sniped the other guy by 2 seconds, lol

Rich at
www.Ibanezrules.com
has a pretty cool beater Desert Yellow 777 that I'd jump at if I didn't basically have a closet full of JEMs right now - BTW - the 777s all have
PAF Pros
, rather than Evolutions or Breeds, and I prefer the PAF Pros over either of the newer pickups - just a sweeter sounding pickup IMHO.......
Cheers, and good hunting

Re: such large different in pricing of jems
Factory pricing is based on what the company thinks they can market it for, and has very little to do with how much more or less it costs.
