Suggestions for next guitar...

Thinking about purchasing JEM7VWH or JEM10

In regards to the Jem7VWH is there any specific year which I should go for?

Would either one a better investment? I have noticed that prices are climbing; the guitar will be for occasional use only.

Looks like the Jem10 is much more popular anyone had a chance to compare the two? Its hard finding a good price for these with the US Case.

Fender Fat Strat American
Jackson Warrior

Still a jem wannabe owner.

Go for an Ebony VWH, there a little more desirable. (pre-2004)

and comparing a VWH to a 10th is like comparing a Ferarri Testerossa to an Enzo...

Don't get the VWH with it's silly gold hardware, buy a better looking JEM! A 77FP, 777, 7PBK, a swirl ...heck -- anything but that tacky, cheesy, Liberace-inspired, mother-of toilet-seat VWH!

It has been ruined by the Chibanez's anyway. That guitar will never be cool. Ever.

In fact forget the JEM. Buy a J.Custom.

No, in fact, become a plumber.

But if you absolutely MUST... get the ebony version.

go for a Jem but dont get a VWH its like everyones standard. Get a BFP or a FP or a DY or LNG something out of the ordinary

Pre 2003 vwh! I thought 03's had the edge pro, and rosewood? Correct me if im wrong. IF you dont like the gold hardware change it, they look quite a bit different with just say chrome hardware (imo they should release one version like that at the least)

If you check http://www.jemsite.com/jem/spec.htm you'll see that up to 2003 was Ebony.

"VWH Fretboard 2004 change to Rosewood - Ibanez unexpectantly, abruptly and without notice changed the VWH fretboard from ebony to rosewood in 2004 after NAMM. From the geniuses at Ibanez of Japan (paraphrased): Vai's EVO has rosewood fingerboard from the beginning. JEM7VWH is the signature model, so we changed it for matching his own JEM."

If you don't want the Edge Pro, you'll have to find a pre-03' for a Lo Pro Edge.

How much do you feel I should pay for this guitar.

"This guitar is a 1998 serial # F98 35214, Mother of Pearl Vine Inlay, Gold hardware (some minor fading on the tremolo which is common...see pictures) Gold Tuners are perfect! Overall Condition is Excellent with the exception of two small dings on the body.....see pictures! Minor scuff on the back from playing. See all pictures! Beautiful!....hate to see it go.... too many toys!Beautiful to look at, and one of the best playing guitars I've ever owned! Original Ibanez hard case with lock, and plush red interior."

I'd say about 900-1100 bucks with the couple of chips out of the front and the buckle rash on the back. Better condition ones go for 1200-1400 all the time. As nice as they are, and they ARE, there is no shortage of them.

Its going for 900 right now. Should I wait around for a better deal?

I would love to get the 10th or 15th Ani Guitar, but just can seem to find anything within my range.

I'd say 900 is decent for it. You won't really get a much better deal. The VWH is the most common model, fortunately it's awesome. You can occasionally luck into a good deal, but if you have the cash, and don't have a jem, I would say go for it, it's a good deal on a great jem.
