Swap EP for Lo-Pro on '03 VWH

I was wondering if it is possible to swap and edge-pro on an '03 VWH for a Lo-Pro without routing or anything? Since the VWH has the lion's claw wouldn't a Lo-Pro fit?

A Low Pro Edge won't swap right in. You're stuck with the edge pro. The lions claw doesn't have anything to do with the fitment. Ibanez changed the location of the body routing in 03 for the new tremolo. --Jason

That sucks. I didn't know if it would be possible or not since Vai changes back and forth between Original Edges and Lo-Pro's on EVO.

Re: Swap EP for Lo-Pro on '03 VWH

EVO was made way back when the Original Edge was still the standard High-End bridge. Then came the Lo-Pro which fits into the same cavity.
That's why Vai is able to change his bridges around...but I've never seen a Lo-Pro on Evo. She's always had an Edge as far as I know.
It would stand to reason since the Edge is the best trem ever!
FLO is the one with the Lo-Pro & Sustainer

Anyway, I too am stuck with an Edge Pro because I've got an '03.
You can route out the cavity to make it fit if you want to but you'd better know what you're doing to your $2000. guitar first!

I always thought he had a Lo-Pro on Evo until someone mentioned he used an original edge so I looked it up on vai.com. I think the previous Evo page said Lo-Pro though which is why I always thought that, but I may be wrong.

That's what I am trying to figure out. Probably just does not know how to set it up properly so is opting for the alternate option, the older trem.

Or possibly it just needs locking studs....

I don't really want to make another thread but has anyone actually had experiences with an edge pro without the locking stud mod that stayed in tune as it should?

Just wondering..

Wow EVO looks new there. Vai really beat that thing up. I think Vai alternates between Edges and Lo-pro trems.

Re: Swap EP for Lo-Pro on '03 VWH

oh wow! thanks for the picture!
I did not know that!

My '03 used to go out of tune with the non-locking studs.
Thanks to Rich, I now have the locking studs & she's good as gold.
My only trouble now is that I've worn grooves in my nut so high "e" has started slipping a bit.

I haven't got locking studs installed and I haven't had the slightest bit of a problem with it.

I will still get it done regardless because its a good idea and wont hurt anything, but I havent had a problem
